Welcome To The Twin Capital Of The World – Igbo Ora (Part 1)

Battabox presenters Odunayo and Kayode journey to Igbo Ora in Oyo state, where there are unusually large number of twin births, which have earned the town the nickname Twin Capital of the World.

But before filming or speaking to anyone, Odunayo had to pay homage to the King of the land and ask for permission and blessings according to how it is done in Yoruba land.

“We permit you to carry out your survey,” says the King

This exceptional large number of twin births is not unique to Igbo-Ora alone; it has also been observed in the town of Kodinji in India and Cândido Godói in Brasil.

In Igbo-Ora, research has suggested that the multiple births could be related to the eating habits of the women in the region of the country.

Watch out for part 2 and 3 of this video where we take you on a tour of the famous twin city.

Watch and enjoy!
