Africans are known to have a relaxed attitude towards time when it comes to appointments, attending events or meetings, which gave birth to the term ‘African Time’. But the Europeans on the other hand are always on time, so is there any such thing as African Time in London?

“We want to get there when everything is happening,” says one man

BattaBox presenter Mary ask some Africans in London – Is there African Time In London?

“African time is British timing backwards,” laughs one lady

Nigerians especially who blame everything on traffic understand the African Timing perfectly, so when planning for an event or a meeting, the time is fixed an hour or two early to give room for the late comers.

“Its not African’s alone, its a Black People Timing (BPT),” explain one guy

Do you use African Time? Watch and enjoy!

Africans are just like all of us black folks, if its a party or something
with other black people we show up late but if its another race ESPECIALLY
white we try to show up on time. In my opinion lol.

It is just a bad habit that black folks display mostly during social
functions. Why do we do it? there’s no adverse effect for showing up late
to a party. The same same black folks won’t try such mess with a place of
work because their bread and butter might soon turn to a P45.

One guy said, “its not an African thing, its a black thing”. I begin to
wonder where all blacks came from… SMH..

I find Africa Time to be a fun trait or stereotype. It’s cool that some
Black people like to take things a little easier, but it doesn’t always go
well in the UK. A Nigerian wedding I attended was almost cancelled by the
reg. office after the bride was 20 mins. late!!

As an oyinbo I may start using Africa Time for going to concerts. Waiting
ages to get inside and then for the main act is frustrating + kills your
feet and ankles if you’re standing!

Haha, african timing is very real and I am guilty of it myself. I recently
went to an Engagement and Wedding and for once, made an effort to get there
earlier than expected to both events. Only to find out that the events did
not start until over 3 hours later than stated. It actually worked out in
the end, as so many people came late as expected.
