Nigeria is Africa’s biggest oil producing nation, and the world’s 4th oil exporting nation, producing 2.2 million barrels of oil a day and exporting 2.1 million barrels. But with the lack of functional refineries, the country and its people have suffered severely from petrol scarcity and shortage in the past decade.

“This fuel scarcity has gone from bad to ugly”

BattaBox presenter Adeola hits the streets of Lagos to talk to people and see how they are dealing with the fuel scarcity.

“My tank is red, I’ve been looking for fuel for the past three days,” laments one guy who has been in the queue for 11 hours.

Nigerians are not finding the current fuel scarcity funny at all.
Some people sit in queues for up to 12 hours just to buy petrol for their cars, while others have to bring their generators to the petrol station, since there is barely any light at home.

“I’ve been on this queue for 12 hours,” complains one man “I did all my work for the day on this queue,” he continues.

Some can’t go to work, others are losing money from their day to day hustle all in the bid to get fuel. Nigerians are not happy, people are frustrated prices have gone up…

“We are angry,” yells Adeola

Should Nigeria, the supposed ‘Giant of Africa’ be suffering from fuel scarcity in 2016?
