The Commonwealth is home to 2.4 billion people across 52 independent and equal sovereign states.
Monday March 2 was Commonwealth day in Nigeria so we decided to find out from Nigerians how much they know about the association that Nigeria has been a part of for decades!

“Some countries coming together to have a common purpose.”
“The British colonized us…they brought all the colonies together.”
“Means wealth…doing things that has to do with people getting rich.”
“A way of generating income.”

An old African proverb says Until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunters. The Problem here is History is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books-books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe, its the conquerors /colonial version of these events they teach us in school to believe they came to civilize us that’s why a lot of us are ignorant about our history. like George Orwell Said The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” History needs to be brought back into the Educational Curriculum If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.
Africa must eschew ties with the declining west and begin to alliy with the rising power of China and Asia… All this worshiping of your oppressors is asinine,. The west never liked you anyways.

Commonwealth day isn’t a holiday here in the commonwealth of the Bahamas. We don’t celebrate commonwealth day here,
but some of them want the other commonwealth countries to help Nigeria. The resource Nigeria have is more then quadtruple
the resource the Bahamas,Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and other Caribbean countries under the commonwealth.
At the end every countries have some source of BED GOVERNING and some times we get it right by electing someone
who cares about their country and people.
This is the first time I’ve heard about ‘commonwealth day!’ They do not celebrate that in the Uk. Or if they do it must be very low-key as I have not heard of it and I have lived here all my life.
