Do Nigerian men marry for love or other reasons?

Sounds like a silly question doesn’t it?

After all, isn’t the whole point of marriage to spend the rest of your life with the man/woman of your dreams, the one, the love of your life?

Well…Not in all cases.

There appears to be a million reasons why people get married.

Companionship, money, convenience, to have children…and sometimes LOVE is the last thing on the list.

So BattaBox sent BollyLomo to find out from Nigerian men…

Whether they marry for love or for other reasons.

Here are some of their honest answers…

“I think most men marry for love,” one man states.

“I don’t think that every man in Nigeria marries as a result of love,” another man confidently states.

Are you married?

Did you marry for love or other reasons?

Thanks for watching!

Love, understanding respect and laughter and making a good home is important in a marriage if all your looking for is a good cook!! Then stay with mummy, because no woman wants a fat lazy slob for a husband 😳😳

I would say it is more about convenience/keeping up appearances as opposed to love from what i’ve seen from Nigerians in diaspora and here in Nigeria (not saying men in Nigeria do not marry for love). Interesting the woman mentioned the words “tolerating each other” which speaks volumes. Plus polygamy also.

Wait what?!?!?!?!? Most Nigerians marry for love or because they want to have kids (that is if there parents didn’t put pressure on them).

A lot of guys just get married because they are getting older.

When you are young, you marry for love, when you get older, you understand it is more about convenience, and outward perspectives.
