Timothy met with aspiring model, Michael, who has selflessly abandoned his dreams to take care of his younger brother after the death of his father in 2014.

“My mum left because she and my dad they have issues. Ever since she left she has not called us. It’s only me and my brother. I’m struggling for both of us to eat,” the young man tells Timothy.
He looked for a job but was unable to find one so he had to find another way to feed himself – carving beautiful jewellery from coconuts.

“Sometimes I will not see food to eat morning to evening…sometimes I will even injure myself doing my carving,” he explains to Timothy.

If you would like to support Michael financially, you can pay into BattaBox’s PayPal Account: [email protected] and click “transfer money” or send a message to [email protected] and we will get back to you asap.

Michael, you should continue your art as well as go after your dream. People like you make me ashamed of myself. I go on and on about how life is treating me, then I hear stories like yours. I wish you the best of luck. I will look you up next time I’m in Nigeria. Stay blessed, we shall meet.

Battabox thank you for highlighting the multitude and beauty of the Nigerian experience. I may not be Nigerian but your stories have a wonderful way of keeping us humble yet excited about the prospects and potential of our beautiful continent. This young man is such a gem with such talent and whether he realizes it or not he is touching the hearts of many just by being his authentic self. Hopefully you guys can do a feature on him again just to keep us up to date about how things are going on in his life. I hope he knows that he has supporters out here.
