It is a known fact that Africans most especially are very superstitious people in nature, but it is known that every country in Africa has her own beliefs so different from the other. In today’s episode, we will go out to ask the audience on the street of Lagos to know what superstition they have heard and/or believe in.
According to dictionary.com, Superstition is a widely held but irrational belief in supernatural influences, especially as leading to good or bad luck, or a practice based on such a belief.
We are making this video to explore the funny and imaginable things that we hear from friends, family, neighbourhood, and even on the street. This believe in one way or the other has been made to shape our minds towards the ways we should do things, live our life, relate and interact with each other knowingly or unknowingly to us. We have a lot of these beliefs and here are some of them:
* You shouldn’t eat anything that has dropped on the ground; the devil has eaten part of it.
* If a lizard egg bursts and it touches your body; you will convulse from time to time.
* If a baby has hiccups, put a little cloth thread on his/her head and it will stop.
* If a woman ties her baby on her back and the baby falls from her back, she should strip naked and run to the nearest market seven times to avoid the child from losing his/her life partner seven times before everything normalise.
There are a lot of weird things most people have heard while growing up. Do you think these beliefs are real or they are just corrective measures to make us not do the wrong things?

The “superstitions” some people are talking about in this interview are not all “random” as the interviewer suggests. They belong to a philosophical / spiritual system that many may no longer understand or hold a valuable. The remnants of those systems of belief in current/modern society get labeled as “superstition”. Which is an inaccurate description.
