Rahamat is a young Nigerian architect living in Lagos, Nigeria.

After graduating from university, she was unable to find a job but instead of sitting at home doing nothing she decided to make money a different way, by selling traditional herbal medication, Agbo.

BattaBox’s Odunayo had the privilege of meeting the determined young lady to find out more about her hustle.

“How did you get into the herbal business?”

“It’s because of Nigeria’s problem, employment problem,” Rahamat responds.

“Did you learn this business or you just ventured into it?” Odunayo is curious.

“I learn it from my mum,” she confirms.

“I believe now we are in a computer age…so why do you still draw with your hand?” Odunayo asks when she notices Rahamat drawing with a pencil and ruler.

“Because I don’t have a laptop,” Rahamat responds.

Yet another example of how driven this young lady is.

“Would you give up architectural design for agbo business?”

“No, no, no,” she shakes her head.

What do you think?

Would you give up what you studied at school to earn an honest living?

Thanks for watching!

Good people, this lady clearly has talent but lacks opportunity. Please
contact Sijibomi Ogundele (Nigerian Billionaire owner of luxury
construction firm Sujimoto, Lagos) or David Adjaye (Ghananian British
Architect, founder of Adjaye Associates, London). She just needs some
career development and ofcourse a laptop, software and architectural tools.
Also ‘She Leads Africa’ could help her, they support African women
entrepreneaurs. BattaBox can you pass these names onto her please? We need
to help her. Rahamat is an artist and should be empowered to use her gifts
    fully.

Well she makes some good cash 40k profit a week is 160k a month. Some
bankers don’t make half of that in Nigeria

What an inspiring young lady. I particularly admire that she is not using
not having a laptop as an excuse to not continue her career goal as an
architect. Life throws us many curve balls but with resilience and
persistence, we will always achieve our goals. Ps. If only she knew how
people in the West are clamouring for natural herbs!

The chief reason for her unemployability is because of plentiful slums and
90% of Nigerians are too poor to afford good homes. Thus there’s very
limited market for her skills in Nigeria .

I was admiring this lady’s zeal until i noticed that she did “yimu” to the
presenter at 4:22 and that just killed it for me. She may not have liked
the question the presenter posed, but her reaction and body language just
showed unprofessional character. I wish her well in her future pursuits
    sha.

Why are people getting distracted by her English. Her grammar has no impact
on her ability to sell herbs or be an architect.
ps: odun you’re looking fine with that hair o. Kayode, you too; no 1 #bae
