What do Nigerians Think About the Postponed Election?

The 2019 Nigeria Preselection was scheduled for the 16th of February and Nigerian were very ready to vote the leader of their choice so the whole nation went to rest in preparation for the next day to cast their votes, just to wake up and got the breaking news that election has been postponed. Nigerians were angry with a lot of opinions about what they think about the election. Is the decision based on the information any act of rigging, stealing of ballot boxes, political issue and so on? We do not know, so we set out to the street to find out what Nigerians think.

A lot of hearts was broken knowing that the election has been postponed and on the other hand, some people found it justifiable believing there is a reason behind the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before making this impromptu decision.

After Friday which is a day before was spent on a light note, Saturday then became a compulsory public holiday for the sake of the postponed election. A lot of activities and money making hustle was automatically cancelled which will result in the Nation losing a huge amount of money due to lack of business activities.

Some people had these to say:

* “It is embarrassing, I made preparations for that day. I actually had to go and stay with my parents so as to vote in that area, only to wake up and found out that the election has been postponed.”

* “In as much as I am disappointed, but I see it as an act of God definitely because it couldn’t have been any other factor apart from God. Few hours to the election I mean, we have seen a whole lot of things in previous years, but this one was just a shocker. If God’s hand was not in it I don’t know what else it would have been.”

* “To be honest, it affected me because I was prepared to go for a wedding this upper Saturday, and because of the election stuffs like that got postponed. So people who have planned their wedding that saturday have to postpone it again, which is like a big waste of people’s money and time.”
