There is no country in the world where women are paid more than men.
To add insult to injury, in many parts of the world, men are paid more than women for doing the exact same job regardless of whether they have the same qualifications!
This happens in Nigeria, America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany……………..
So don’t think it’s a third world or ‘African’ thing. It’s a thing full stop.

BattaBox’s Odunayo hit the streets of Lagos to find out whether Nigerians think it’s OK for men to be paid more than women for doing the same job.
Here are some of their interesting answers…
“She’s being cheated. So far she has the same qualifications…she’s being cheated,” one man states.
“If men can be the head of the home, I believe in any organisation men should also be the head and they should be paid above women,” one man says.
“I don’t feel the man should be paid higher. It should be equal,” another man says.
“We are equal so we deserve the best,” one lady answers.

Men are leaders and should be paid more.
Men are protectors, providers, rule setters and conquers.
Female are weak by nature and needs to be protected and provided.
Companies get away with this discrimination in the U.S. by giving men a slightly different job description, though they are essentially doing the same thing as a woman. This is how Walmart got away with as much as a $20,000 difference between male and female pay for executives. Will the world ever be fair?

It is really sad some Nigerians still have this patriarchal mentality but I’m glad a decent percentage of the youth interviewed recognised equality and meritocracy should be the way forward. Feeling optimistic for our future leaders 🙂

A woman is supposed to get paid less than a man for certain jobs. For example if a woman can’t lift as much as a man she is less productive. If she can be as physically productive than she should get paid the same.
Ha,here we go again!
