Nigerians in America are outraged and angry as the Nigerian Embassy in NewYork have stopped giving passports to citizens due to some technical issues they appear to be facing. Battabox presenter Lolade who is also trying to get her passport speaks to other Nigerians about the situation.
“This is not how you treat Nigerian citizens,” Lolade yells
“This is really frustrating,” says one woman
Many Nigerians in America are getting ready for their summer holidays and some have already booked their flight tickets, but they can’t seem to get their passports before their set day of travel which could lead to them loosing lots of money.
“I had to apply for a visa before i could go to my country, its messed up,” laments one Nigerian man
The public notice posted outside the embassy says ” This consulate would not be processing passport applications until further notice” but this notice still did not explain why people are not getting their passports.
“Give the people what they have payed for,” Lolade shouts angrily to the camera

Thank you Battabox for bringing this to limelight. Everything Nigeria is so
“Nigerian”. That’s why i don’t fuck with anything Nigerian. That’s why from
here on out I’m only using my American passport. Fuck Nigeria and their
Bullshit. By the way I like the presenter, they got her bringing out her
New York side. Battabox keep up the good work and keep keeping it real.
THIS HAPPENS PRACTICALLY IN ALL NIGERIAN EMBASSIES. IRELAND IS THE WORST OF
ALL. THERE IS A PARTICULAR IBO MAN THERE THAT IS VERY RUDE AND
DISRESPECFUL. I WILL GET HIS NAME. HE TALKS TO EVERYBODY JUST ANYHOW. HE IS
SO ILL MANNERED.THE ONLY REASON HE IS STILL THERE IS BECAUSE THE AUTHOURITY
NEEDS HIS NAME WHICH I DON’T HAVE. IT’S A HELL GOING BACK TO NIGERIAN
EMBASSY IN IRELAND BECAUSE OF THIS. HE TALKS AND YELLS AT YOU ANYHOW. THE
GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS
Hmmmmm! So I am an African. But not a Nigerian..but out of every African
Embassy I have been to get a visa, Nigeria House in NY on 2nd Ave has been
the worse experience of my life. I had to go there 4 times to finally get
approved for my visa. If it wasn’t for my charming personality &
consistency, I wouldn’t have gotten it. I can only imagine the pain
Nigerian citizens are feeling. The corruption is a disgrace!
Why would they want a Nigerian passport and why would they want to go back
to Nigeria ?
Blame Buhari
I’m sooooo lucky!!! I was just there two Fridays (July 22) ago enduring the
inconvenience of no air conditioning, but my new passport was delivered by
the following Tuesday (in the self addressed envelope I had to pay extra
for of course). Once I mentioned self addressed envelope to the USPS guy,
he said – “for the consulate, right?” because we be regular customer.
Somehow we manage to treat the simplest of processes like rocket science.
Such a shame.
As usual Nigerian officials have not handled thing well. People fly out
from as far away as Texas for these appointments. I can’t imagine making
that journey, only to be told this crap. They take email addresses and
phone numbers in the online applications. Why not just notify people before
they make the trip? Why not just stop accepting applications on the website
until the problem is sorted out? Why the heck is processing passports a
problem in the first place? Why are we so mean to each other? and the list
goes on…
