It has been two tears since 276 girls were kidnapped from their beds in a secondary school, by members of the insurgency group Boko Haram in Chibok, a Local Government area of Borno state in the northern part of Nigeria. Some of the girls managed to escape, but 219 girls are still missing.
“We are demanding our rights,” says one woman directing the protest
BattaBox presenter Adeola joined the #Bringbackourgirls rally in Ikeja, on a walk to the Lagos state Governor’s office on the second year anniversary since the girls got missing.
“Bring back our girls Now and Alive,” the protesters chanted as the marched to the Governors office.
After the girls were kidnapped in 2014, the whole world urged the Nigerian government to #Bringbackourgirls , and it was assumed that the girls were inside the Sambisa Forest with members of boko haram.
Some of the girls have been raped, some have babies and some have died but their families are still devastated and hoping they would see them again.

This comment is going to be harsh. Kobe retired yesterday and I think it’s
time for this movement to do the same. The opportunity to bring back these
girls was lost when the govt at the time took no action after the
addictions were reported. Who was in charge of security and what actions
did they take. Did they dispatch helicopters, a recuse team, did they
attempt to seal of the border areas, etc. Too much time had passed before
the government was forced to respond, not by the urgency of the situation,
but by the embarrassment it was facing in the international community.
Simply put, poor people’s lives don’t matter in Nigeria and in Africa in
general.
The other day I saw on CNN a video that was manufactured by Boko Haram his
self. The video showed 15 of the 200 or so girls. What they were saying
looked like they were reading something that was scripted.
thank you for sheding light on this sad moment for our country. its a shame
that 2 years has passed and nothing has happened. Praying for Gods strength
for the families and for Him to break free the bondage of evil that our
country continues to endure
disgusted with Nigerian government
woooow betta box 2years? Nigerian government are a disgrace to humanity.
They are nor human change will come if one day someone murder the family of
people in government. fight the oppression of the government if word of
mouth doesn’t work i believe in violent to make a change.
Dear Nigerians, get involved in this now. I’m surprised at the number of
people marching in such a large city as Lagos.
They are now women, seriously! The government changed and nothing has
happened.
political propaganda………go back home and sleep and don’t be deceived
by your fellow man. no girls to bring back…. even though there is
something of such, they re all women by now. someone you have live with for
two years…. I guess they should be getting use to boko haram.
Loved that Adeola joined the march. Great reporting as usual.
Dear Battabox, I appreciate greatly what you are doing. May I talk with
you about the many, too many, Nigerian girls that are enslaved and
forced to sell their bodies in far-away foreign countries? This is a
delicate thing. May I contact you privately? I have a lot to say.
