Battabox presenters Odunayo and Kayode journey to Igbo Ora in Oyo state, where there are unusually large number of twin births in Nigeria, which have earned the town the nickname Twin Capital of the World.
“In every compound in Igbo Ora , you must find two to three sets of twins”
After paying homage to the King of the land and getting his permission to explore Igbo Ora , they set out on the second day of their journey with their tour guide who takes them to some of the households to talk to twin parents and some of the twins themselves, both young and old.
In Igbo-Ora, research has suggested that the multiple births could be related to the eating habits of the women in the region of the country.
“Its the food we eat that makes us have twins,” says one mother of twins
But some people disagreed..
“I don’t believe it, twins come from God.
Watch out for part 3 of this video where Odunayo would show you what Ilasa soup is made of and how to prepare it.

BattaBox is the most exciting Nigerian News & Entertainment Video channel based in Lagos. We are the fact behind Nigerian Movies fiction, Nollywood in real-life with a dash of Yoruba Movie Magic – but none of our videos are made-up like Nollywood – they are all true stories!
BattaBox is Nigeria Like You’ve Never Seen Before!
SHARE this video with friends and family.
my dad has a twin brother. my sister and i share the same birthday, but we
are not twins. i liked this video. thanks battabox. ?
Odunayo is really good. She has a natural charm and tells stories in unique
style. Kudos to the great guy who worked with her. Well done Battabox team.
That song at the end! I can see where Mo’Cheda got her inspiration for
Destinambari
Which state is that in Nigeria
Very, very interesting series. The song towards the end of the video was
sampled by Mochedda in Destinambari ft Phyno.
Battabox this actually one of your best videos, thanks so much for this.
When I was learning Yoruba I was told about Igbo Ora & twins and this video
confirms what I was told was true, especially about the food eaten and the
eulogies. Once again thanks Battabox.
I’ve watched many videos of Battabox and hands down this is my favorite
one!!! For me I love children so much and twins run in my family, my Mama
has a set, my great aunt has TWO sets of twins and her mother,my great
grandmother also has a set…All of these children are gifts from God and
they are beautiful and perfect made… It’s amazing how cultures differ
from country to country or even tribe to tribe in Africa because I recently
watched a very sad and disturbing tradition in Madagascar where the birth
of twins is deemed EVIL!!! If a woman gives birth to twins there she MUST
abandon them or leave her tribe if she keeps them…Thank God that Nigeria
is evolved and Lord have mercy on those in Madagascar who abide by outdated
rubbish…
REAL
Great job I enjoyed watching
Am applying my self in Anointing oil before I go there. I would fast and
carry bottled water. No way I want twins.
