There way governmental activities are carried out in this contraption known
as Nigeria, which is the artificial British creation since the forced
amalgamation in 1914 and crafted independence in 1960 had two-fold
political undertone: they zoned political/economic power to the
Hausa/Fulani tribes in the arid region to control the natural
resources/Biafrans in the Eastern region and by extension placed their
multi-national companies, who helped in siphoning the oil wealth back to
them in the name of “One Nigeria” . It’s unimaginable to think in clear
terms that the owners of oil wealth in the Biafran region are oppressed,
cheated, killed, maimed, marginalised and forced to remain with the
notorious slogan of “One Nigeria” as tenaciously aided by the British
government ; those tribes in far apart arid region realising the embedded
potentials used the divide and rule tactics of their colonial masters after
the genocidal civil war to arrogate the abundant oil wells to themselves.
In most civilised countries wherever oil resources abound in a given
locality, structural development and welfare packages becomes the
inalienable privileges of the Indigenous People . When groundnut boom came
up in the Northern region, Kano transformed into a commercial centre with
enviable groundnut pyramid. The turn of Coco boom in the Western region saw
the erection of the magnificent Coco house in Ibadan city. Despite the
Trillions of Naira obtained from the crude oil Wells in Biafra land over
the decades, No Petroleum House to show far it ! These monuments of
achievement and other attendant benefits existed under “Derivative Policy”
before and after the concocted independence. Later everything went into the
drain when oil wealth was discovered as desperate means to those
Hausa/Fulani /Yoruba tribes, who see themselves as victors after the civil
war conquest along with their colonial masters as last opportunity to
steal, cheat and marginalise the Biafran region till date. The huge oil
wealth proceeds was converted into buying weapons from Britain and used
over the years of continuous harassment, oppression and unannounced
killings of the Biafrans. “Your can’t cheat an educated man forever ” and
go scott free. One day even in defenceless position, he’ll alternatively
fight back with tenacity of purpose which is the self-determination policy
of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) seeking for their total freedom
through peaceful and legitimate means by involving the UNO, EU and OEAS
intervention. The tribes mentioned earlier who benefited immensely from the
Biafran land oil wealth are the ones clamouring for “One Nigeria” and
saying “No to Biafra” Like the book written by Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, I
say without equivocation that “Biafra Must Be Free”.
