“Sickle cell is not a disease, its a disorder,” says one woman

Battabox presenter Odunayo and some fellow Nigerians joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2016 World Sickle Cell Day on June 11th 2016 as designated by the United Nations, to draw attention and create necessary awareness to the problems posed by sickle cell disorder.

“It’s to create awareness and show people what can be done,” says one woman participating in the charity walk

“Sickle cell is a terrible sickness that you have to take care of and avoid,” replies another man

While talking to some people living with sickle cell during the walk, Odunayo asked them how they have coped living with the disorder and how to prevent a meltdown.

“If you know what triggers your disease, you can curb it,” says one lady living with sickle cell

Some of the participants of the walk were professionals, celebrities, friends of people with SCD and SCD warriors, to bring awareness to a cause that the UN has tagged a public health problem.
