Nigeria food has a burger that is not like any other in the world, and our BattaBox presenter Warri Pikin is headed to the streets to take a bite.

“We have to survive on the street, we go for lesser one we can afford” says Warri Pikin.

Bread and Bean cake aka Akara is one Nigerian food combination on the streets that Nigerians can’t get enough of. Although these foods can be combined separately with different meals for different individual preference. However the nutrients in this food combination, makes it undoubtedly one of the most preferred filling Nigerian foods!

BattaBox finds out the best way to prepare and eat the burger, aka Akara and bread, checks out the business side as well, and all the names that Nigerians give to this Nigerian food combo.

Nigerians have interesting names they give to these food combo, ranging from African Burger, Special burger and even local burger. Indeed Nigerians have a way of having fun with their meals regardless of how the food is made and where it is sold.

“Once You have your #250 just buy your bread and Akara”. said a young man biting hard into his bread and Akara.

We can do just about anything for amala, jollof rice, efo riro and of course some mineral to wash it down in one swift motion, followed by a loud sigh accompanied by the caressing of a bursting belly.

So gobbling up the meals isn’t a problem…The question is where are the best places in Nigeria to balance well and chop?

BattaBox has decided to save you time and money by sending our in house foodie, Adeola, to various mama puts (in case you’re ajebo, a mama put is basically a bukka/roadside restaurant, where Nigerians eat lunch, breakfast and dinner) to taste the food for you.

“How can something that looks so good, taste so bad?” Adeola exclaims after sampling some jollof.

Not only does Adeola review the actual meal, she also grades the environment and the restaurant as a whole out of 10 so YOU know the places that serve the most SCRUMPTIOUS meals and the restaurants you should AVOID like the plague!

“They had a gutter there, right in front of the restaurant, that wasn’t looking nice, that was very smelly!” Adeola laments.

We hope this review was useful for you.

Thanks for watching!

Puff puff is one snack that is popular to West African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Congo and Liberia. You find vendors frying and hawking them on the streets and selling them fresh and hot.

“We use flour, baking powder, salt and sugar,” says the woman who owns the puff puff business

Today on the hustle, BollyLomo learns how to make Africa’s famous street snack – Puff Puff and Bons- as it is called in Nigeria.

“Bons is the ugly brother of puff puff,” says Bolly

Bolly also helped sell the puff puff to people in traffic and passers by and he did make lots of sales for the woman.

When asked how much profit is made in a day from selling puff puff, one of the puff puff attendants said they make up to N40,000 ($114).

“Its a market that is readily in demand,” says Bolly

The Hustle helps us appreciate the little menial Lagos jobs people do for little income.

Also you can follow bolly on Instagram – @bollylomo and @ItsBollyLomo on Twitter and let him know where to go next for The Hustle.

Watch and enjoy!
