Even as we are scattered all over the world – Nigeria still has the

highest population in Africa!

We are a rich nation, bursting with talent and intelligence, yet many of us leave our home to set up camp elsewhere. As a consequence Nigeria doesn’t fully benefit from the skills all our citizens possess.

So…Move Back To Nigeria was set up – to help Nigerians that want come back home but have no idea how to make the transition, find jobs and comfortably settle in to Naija society.

BattaBox’s Lolade attended the event in Lagos to find out more…

“How important is it to invest in Nigeria?” Lolade asks.

“I think it’s very important…if you don’t invest in your country, who else is going to do it for you?” a young lady responds.

“I was born and raised in London,” a young man explains.

“And then you decided to come back home?” Lolade asks.

“Yes precisely,” he adds.

Nollywood Stars Reveal: What’s Most Important Thing At Red Carpet Events?!

Nigeria’s biggest Nollywood movie stars hit the red carpet for the launch of a new Naija channel on the UK’s Sky over the weekend – ROK on SKY!

“This is about the progress of Rok, Iroko, and the Nigerian film industry in bringing up the image of Africa and also the image of Nigeria,” says Desmond Elliot, one of the Nigerian movie industry’s biggest stars.

BattaBox hit the red carpet to ask Nollywood’s biggest stars – what is the most important thing to have at your red carpet launch event – and the answers are hilarious… and helpful!

“Jollof rice and fish,” laughs Mummy Patience Ozokwor, a big Igbo movie actress.

“You must have the food and also the liquor!” laughs Uche Odoputa, an actor from Husbands of Lagos.

The stars turned up in limousines and their finest, sparkling gowns to mix, drink and eat at the launch.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” says Mary Remmy Njoku, the CEO of ROK. “It’s like a dream – wake me up!”

Nigerians Flee To Benin Republic

The amount if Nigerians in diaspora have suddenly increased since the beginning of this economic recession that is affecting lots of businesses and individuals. Although some are struggling to survive it but others are already sinking and have fled the country.

“Imagine one bag of rice is N20,000,” yells one man

Harrison Hamson who lives in Benin Republic asks Nigerians around the city why they left Nigeria in search for a better life.

“Nigeria is very very worst,” laments one guy

But as Benin Rebublic is a french speaking country, Harrison asks some of them how they have been able to cope with the language barrier.

“Initially it was difficult but its better now,” one man replies

We Found Amazing Nigerian Suya In Canada

BattaBox loves Nigerian food – anywhere you can find it in the world – and we find it in some wonderful places. So we asked our Canada presenter to look for some Nigerian Suya in Toronto.

“My suya just arrived and I can’t wait to try it!” says BattaBox presenter Precious.

The Nigeria Suya joint is run by Taiwo Ajala in Toronto who is a great promoter of Nigerian food and wants it to become a household brand.

“I want suya to be as popular as jerk chicken and everyday we keep suya-ising people!” says Taiwo.

And from the reaction of all his customers on the day BattaBox visited – he’s well on his way!

Is There “Africa Time” In London ??

Africans are known to have a relaxed attitude towards time when it comes to appointments, attending events or meetings, which gave birth to the term ‘African Time’. But the Europeans on the other hand are always on time, so is there any such thing as African Time in London?

“We want to get there when everything is happening,” says one man

BattaBox presenter Mary ask some Africans in London – Is there African Time In London?

“African time is British timing backwards,” laughs one lady

Nigerians especially who blame everything on traffic understand the African Timing perfectly, so when planning for an event or a meeting, the time is fixed an hour or two early to give room for the late comers.

“Its not African’s alone, its a Black People Timing (BPT),” explain one guy

How long for Nigerians to get a Canadian Accent?

Nigerians travel abroad a lot and they tend to pick up the country’s accent in no time. Sometimes they come out well, but most times they sound funny.

“Maybe 6 months to a year,” replies one guy

Although there are many people who live abroad for many years but still cannot get the accent.

“If you roll with Nigerians all the time, you can never get the accent,” replies one guy
